What's all the hype?
The Shakti acupressure mat is a wellness tool designed to promote relaxation and pain relief through acupressure. It features thousands of small, sharp plastic spikes that stimulate pressure points on the body when you lie, sit or even stand on it. The spikes apply pressure to areas like your back, neck, or feet, helping to release tension, increase blood circulation, and provide relief from pain. It is hailed as being particularly good for back or muscle discomfort and regular use is claimed to enhance relaxation and improve sleep quality.

My Experience of the Shakti Mat
When I first got the Shakti acupressure mat, I was honestly a bit intimidated. The idea of lying on thousands of sharp spikes seemed more painful than therapeutic. I remember unrolling it with hesitation, thinking, “How can this possibly be good for me?” But, after reading all the rave reviews, I decided to give it a try.
At first, when I lay down on the mat, the sensation was intense, and there may have been some bad language! The sharp points poked my back, and I could feel a tingling warmth spreading through my body. I won’t lie, it was uncomfortable at first, but I soon realised that it wasn’t pain—it was pressure. The longer I stayed on the mat, the more my body seemed to adjust. After just a few minutes, a deep sense of relaxation started to take over. It was like my muscles were releasing tension in ways I didn’t even know were possible and it was somewhat euphoric!
The benefits of using the Shakti mat have been incredible. After a session, my muscles feel more relaxed, my joints less stiff, and I'm in an incredible state of calm! I sleep so much better after a Shakti session; deeper and more restfully. It’s almost like the mat helps me wind down from the day and prepare for a peaceful night’s sleep. It's now also my go-to tool when lower back pain from an old injury rears it's head. One thing I would add is that the more I use it, the quicker my body 'adjusts' to the initial discomfort and the more benefit I feel!
I would thoroughly recommend!
